Advent in Zagreb
Advent in Zagreb is pure magic, with twinkling lights, the scent of mulled wine, and lively markets filling the city with festive charm. It’s no wonder it’s repeatedly voted among the best Christmas markets in Europe!
Olive Harvest
Olive oil is the lifeblood of Dalmatia, and this fall, I had the privilege of spending time with friends on both Hvar and Šolta. It’s a simple, unhurried process, steeped in tradition. On both islands, olives are carefully picked by hand, then rushed to the mills to be turned into liquid gold—often the same day. Mills like Poje on Hvar and Uljara Božić capture the essence of the island’s soil, transforming the freshly picked fruit into extra virgin olive oil that’s bursting with flavor and free of defects.

Adriatic Heritage Glamping on Šolta
On the Croatian island of Šolta, pomalo isn’t just a word—it’s a way of life. In a glamping tent nestled among olive trees, we leaned into this Dalmatian art of taking it easy. Locals shared their stories, their land, and their traditions—a sunset ride to the island’s edge, hidden coves, and even a surprising connection back to Atlanta.
The Island of Hvar
Backpackers, super yachts, UNESCO protected land, lavender fields, and endless turquoise sea, that is what comes to mind when I think of Hvar.
Traditional Croatian Peka
In a small village above Split, I sat down to learn the ancient art of Peka—meat and vegetables slow-cooked under hot coals. It's not just about the food; it's about the process, the people, and the stories they share along the way. A local konoba, a few glasses of wine, and cheesecake that defies expectations—this is Croatia, raw and real.
The island of Brač
If you’re in Split, Croatia, and looking to escape the crowds, Brač should be on your radar. Sure, it’s not Hvar—no flashy yachts or A-list parties here—but that’s the point. I’d heard locals talk about it like it was some well-kept secret, so I had to see for myself. The moment we docked in Supetar, it was clear Brač had something special to offer.
Split’s Sunlit Splendor
Our home for the next four months...
Split serves as the gateway to many of Croatia's islands—if you’re planning to go island hopping in the Adriatic, you'll likely fly into Split and embark on a boat from there. But before setting sail, be sure to take a stroll through Diocletian's Palace, which has gained recent popularity as the filming location for the city of Meereen in the popular show, Game of Thrones.

Lake Bled, Slovenia
Lake Bled in Slovenia is a stunning destination with turquoise waters framed by lush forests and the Julian Alps. The picturesque island in the middle features the Assumption of Mary Church, a popular pilgrimage site accessible by traditional wooden boats. Despite an unexpected storm cutting our visit short, the lake's beauty and charm left a lasting impression, making it a must-visit spot.
